CHURCH COLOURS: Many people have asked why it is that we change the pulpit falls during the year, well read on: Colours are used to recognise the movements and moods of the Christian year: Purple for preparation and penance; white or gold for celebration and rejoicing; green for re-commitment and growth in Christ; red for the fire and power of the Holy Spirit. In many churches a white pulpit fall & bible markers are used for the Sacrament of Holy Communion and the Sacrament of Infant Baptism. COLOURS APPROPRIATE TO THE SEASON: ADVENT: Purple CHRISTMAS SEASON (beginning Christmas Eve) White THE EPIPHANY OF OUR LORD White SUNDAYS AFTER EPIPHANY Green (but last Sunday, Transfiguration Sunday) White LENT Purple (but no colour on Good Friday) EASTER DAY TO SUNDAY AFTER ASCENSION White PENTECOST Red TRINITY SUNDAY White Other occasions that may be marked by appropriate colours:- MARRIAGE White FUNERAL Purple or White ORDINATION & INDUCTION OF MINISTER Red ORDINATION & ADMISSION OF ELDER Red CONFIRMATION Red
