Bible Garden An almond tree was planted by the Bible Class on 23rd May 2004, to commemorate the 200th anniversary of laying the foundation stone for the present church building, in a dedication service lead by Mr Ian Smith. At that time the garden area was overgrown with weeds and very few plants, so it was decided to try and reclaim it as a garden. Once this was achieved we decided to try and turn it into a Bible Garden with plants mentioned in, or associated with, the Bible as well as plants and flowers found in the Holy Land. Although this will obviously be an on-going project we wanted to at least have the Bible Garden started to coincide with the 200th anniversary of the church.
We have listed some of the main
examples we have so far planted on the bible plants
page and , although only a short list at present, hopefully as the years go by
what has already been planted will flourish and be added to, as will the
congregation and work of The Old Parish Church. We also hope to erect a sign that signifies the gifts found in a garden.
